Ricoh’s new “Pro” range helps in-house printers take on a wider variety of jobs while lowering costs.

Northprint 2009, Harrogate; 21 April 2009: Ricoh has announced that a new high-volume mono range will debut at this year’s Northprint exhibition to help in-house printers overcome their two most significant challenges. Under pressure to cut costs, they are also looking to bring jobs back in-house that are currently outsourced. This additional volume reduces turnaround times and potentially increases the number of short-run jobs they are being asked to deliver.

With the launch of its Pro 907EX/1107EX/1357EX devices, Ricoh is equipping in-house printers with the latest high volume mono digital presses that also enable them to replace many off-line finishing peripherals with in-line alternatives. This gives CRDs (central reprographic departments) increased levels of control over their high volume black and white print runs, and helps to control costs.

“Not only does our new range of high volume mono devices offer improved in-line finishing, but it also helps to reduce total cost of ownership compared with a digital press and separate offline finishing peripherals”, Karen Lawrence, professional print solutions marketing manager for Ricoh UK. “Our new Pro 907EX/1107EX and 1357EX devices offer an in-line ring binder option that is unique to Ricoh, a new multi-folding device, a new high performance all-in-one booklet finisher with saddle stitch, punch, staple and trimmer and, for the first time, we are offering a high volume stacker with tandem connection for the mono devices.”

Other in-line finishing options include a high performance booklet finisher and trimmer; Plockmatic booklet maker and GBC Stream Punch III. In-line finishers enable documents to be automatically processed from input to output with reduced human intervention, enabling in-house printers to reduce cost and focus on other revenue-generating activities.

For customers that lack either resources or manpower, Ricoh’s new high volume mono digital presses can create a real competitive advantage by enabling them to take on, and retain control of, an increasing number of jobs, whilst reducing operational costs.
