Excellent Value for Money
Purchased this printer as I needed a colour laser printer that was capable of printing and scanned double sided has scan to folder scan to network features. Printer is easy to set up and relatively fast at over 30 pages per minute. Cartridges are also good value for money as the Black prints 6000 pages and the colours print 4000 pages each so your not having to change cartridges every five minutes. Cost for cartridges isn't too bad either. Only down side would be the speed of printing via wifi. While it still does 30ppm it can take around 15-20 seconds to start printing the first page. Once it's going though you wont have any problems. Print quality is superb and I have been able to print flyers and brochures for my business and they look great. Doesn't print right to the edge of the page but I didn't expect it to. leaves a 1-2mm border which is normal for a printer.

Happy with the printer
Produces good quality and rapid prints. Photocopier has been useful for occasional use. Did start looking a bit fuzzy after it had been moved, but read the manual (online) and following the calibration process and it all got really sharp again. Has been completely reliable both in terms of waking up when prints are sent to it, and remaining connected to the network - lot better than the previous printer !

Good Printer
I have used this for a while, printing a reasonable amount of colour and black and white. Colours are bright and clear. Printer is fast enough. Paper handling reliable with no jams or misfeeds. It has always woken up when sent a print even after a few days of not being used. WiFi connection is always reliable. Also use the built in copier feature a bit and that works well. Not really tried the scanner. On balance I would recommend this printer - the experience setting up and using it has been painless.

Heavyweight but value for money
Purchased this printer to replace my previous inkjet due to both myself and partner working from home and having a high print output. This was a great price (cheapest around) and also included £100 cashback at the time. Arrived super quick and well packaged. The unit itself is well built, it's a heavy beast but I have it on a small square table in the cabin. WiFi built in allowing various features including emailing direct from scans. Quality has been great from it, simple to set up and quickly churns out the printing, double sided is perfect and document feed has been faultless. It's a little noisy when printing but really that's to be expected at the pace it works at. Already gone through the supplied toners and now have replacements working just as well.

Excellent all rounder
The Brother MFC-L8690CDW, available prior to 03/2020 with cash back was an excellent choice for us as we became home working shortly afterwards. Seamless printing from the app (phone/tablet/pc) and auto duplex copying/scanning has saved a ton of time during home schooling. There is the very occasional latency on the machine when printing from the phone (android), one has to cancel the print job and try again - not sure how to fix that but it does not detract from the otherwise excellent machine. Colour prints are as expected, the scan to email and scan to OCR-ed PFDs apps from the printer are excellent time savers. The one bug about the latency is why its 4/5 on the performance.

Why did I not buy this printer years ago!
Dear Printerland RE: Brother MFC-L8690CDW Thank You! What an awesome machine! Yes it is a reasonable size but oh my word it works! It does everything I need it to - first time - no hassle. I have a mixed home network of iPads, Macs PC's and phones and everything form a tech savvy son and a technophobic wife - and neither have managed to break it! Months on from purchase it is still on its factory installed toners and it produces our weekly newsletters without blemish fuss free in moments each week. I have calculated that in the time I have had this I would have already spent more on ink refills for the £50 inkjet machines that I kept buying from supermarkets (Why?!) than on this entire printer. Totally without fuss it is the first printer I have owned that does not incite me to swear regularly! Life is too short for any printer not as good as this!

Excellent future-proof MFC!
This is a great product! Very happy with ever feature for use now and in the future: doubled printing/scanning, ID printing/scanning, fast, cheap compatible ink, quite ish, reasonable good ink cycle ... I love it! With these features I'm future proofed.
