Pantum P2500 in More Detail

The stylish black and grey Pantum P2500 is robust and reliable with a speed of up to 22ppm mono. The machine comes in a sleek and compact dust-free design to cut down cleaning time. Pantum - for the past 13 years - have been implementing and developing fresh print technologies. This has produced high-quality and affordable printing solutions for work and home purposes.

Easy connectivity

The machine has increased connectivity options from earlier models and has a paper tray for 150 sheets of A4 paper. It can be used by several machines - compatible with Windows and Mac desktop computers, laptops, smartphone and tablets - through wireless connectivity. This makes printing directly from the source much more simple. The wireless option is perfect for supporting work environments which need prints from several programs across a whole range of different disciplines. The printer also benefits from a USB interface.

Fast printing

This machine will never disappoint in the speed department for those who need quick high-quality monoprints. The P2500 prints out 22 pages per minute and is capable of a monthly duty cycle of a staggering 15,000 pages. It never compromises quality and the first page can be printed in less than eight seconds. The prints are 1200 x 1200dpi. The machine benefits from 128mb RAM of memory and a 600MHz processor – which is competitive with more expensive and established brands.

Other info

The laser printer - which prints only in mono - is 337mm wide, 220mm depth and has a height of 178mm and weighs just 4.75kg, making it light and portable. Included in the box with the printer are 700 pages starter toner, a USB cable, power cord, cd-rom and quick set-up guide. The black print cartridge included is capable of printing 700 pages. The machine also benefits from an automatic sleep mode to conserve energy and cut power costs. The robust metal frame and parts are made from 100% recyclable materials.

BLI Buyers Lab 2015 Pick

The Pantum P2500 Series has earned the BLI Winter 2015 Pick for Outstanding Personal Monochrome Printer, base on the performance of the ‘’W’’ configuration (which has a wireless interface, while the sibling P2500 doesn’t).

‘’The P2500 boasts a cost of ownership that’s among the lowest for this class,’’ said BLI Senior Writer Carl Schell. ‘’At peak volumes over three year, users will spend about 24 percent less than average, making either device an economical choice for users.’’

Compact and lightweight, the P2500W sailed through durability testing with no issues and offers simple routine maintenance procedures. At the desktop, the host-based driver lets users save settings for frequently used jobs. Power consumption can be a hidden cost of printing, but with a selection in the print driver, users can configure a time for the unit to enter sleep mode (immediately or following 5,15,20 or 60 minutes of inactivity), which can help save energy and lower costs.

The 23-ppm mono laser printers support printing from smartphones and tablets via Wireless Direct and the Pantum Mobile Printing app. Image quality samples exhibited dark solids and the full range of grayscale, while first-print times for all three test files from ready mode, as well as running speed when printing simplex sets, were competitive. The unit has a high non-upgradeable memory capacity, and compared with devices in the group, the feedback utility is robust, as it provides troubleshooting information to simplify error recovery.

’’The P2500 Series delivers quality, affordability and reliability, which is everything users want in a destop printer,’’ Schell said. ‘’Users in need of a printer for home use definitely can’t go wrong with either of these two devices.’’
