Epson WorkForce DS-1630 Scanner
Scanner arrived promptly this morning after ordering yesterday. Downloaded the Mac drivers from the Epson website and was set up and running within minutes. Have spent the rest of the day scanning a variety of different types of documents. Despite the limited Mac utilities the software allows me to define different scan profiles which has saved me loads of time.

The Scanner is very good delivering good sharp clear copies from trannies ,negs and prints also very fast on auto mode scanning a lot of 10/8 photo contacts. The biggest problem I had was setting it up with my new IMAC I had to go buy cd drive but the CD suppled with the scanner would not load up the soft wear,I think this is because the date on the CD is 2009 and out of date with MAC, after many hours of trying to set it up to work went to Epson website and downloaded latest drivers.

Goods arrived in less than 24 hours. Brought a EPSON scanner v600 to copy 50 years old slides brilliant results even using on auto with dust removal, Elements 11 did a good job of repairing damaged slides.

Better than expected
Delivery was incredibly fast: less than 24 hours from ordering. Considering delivery is free and the price less than other online suppliers this is to be very highly commended. The scanner is everything expected. It was a gamble as to whether it would scan 6cmx6cm trannies: although not specified in the spec, one of the holders allows scanning of unmounted negs and trannies of this size. The downside is the V600 doesn't seem to have a 64bit Twain capability. Not a - I use PSP anyway and there is a 32 bit version. It is no trouble to simply scan in using Epson's software and save for subsequent loading into PSP. Scan quality seems good, and plenty of good software options - such as stitching larger scans to big for the scan bed.

A great scanner which comes with all the tools to restore your photos, slides and negatives but a shame it doesn't have the facility for automatically scanning 110 negatives, though scanning of this size can be achived with a home made cardboard negative holder.
