**Page yields are declared by the manufacturer in accordance with ISO/IEC standards or occasionally estimated based on 5% per page coverage. Yields will vary greatly depending on image, area coverage, print mode and environmental conditions.
When the time comes to purchase new ink and supplies for your HP Deskjet F2480 printer, you'll often find yourself making the choice between genuine ink from the printer's original manufacturer and third-party supplies. While it can be tempting to go for the latter option when the initial purchase price appears to be significantly cheaper, in reality, there are a large number of factors that decide the actual cost of each page that you print that you should be sure to consider before you make your purchasing decision.
As well as the obvious factor of the cartridge's price, you should consider the yield rate that it offers. Genuine HP ink for this printer will allow you to print up to 600 pages before requiring replacement. You'll also want to note the quality of print that it is able to produce and the environmental reputation of the manufacturer. You'll also want to be sure that there's no risk of any third-party supplies causing damage to your printer as this type of issue will rarely be covered by any warranty plan or service agreement that you have in place. This could cause you significant problems if you also rely on your HP Deskjet F2480 for other functions, such as scanning and photocopying, and can't afford for it to be out of action.
According to HP, your HP Deskjet F2480 is capable of printing around 20 pages per minute in black and white and 16 in colour. These figures apply to draft mode, a setting in which some third-party supplies will really struggle to produce acceptable quality printouts. This may force you to select a higher quality setting, meaning every document that you print will take longer and use more ink. When you break this down, it can actually lead to the third-party product costing more per page printed, despite the lower initial purchase price.
