BLI Buyers Lab Summer 2013 Pick Award
For reasons such as environmental friendliness, strength of performance (image quality and productivity), and affordability, the Samsung Xpress M2875 Series has earned the BLI Summer 2013 “Pick” for “Outstanding Personal Monochrome MFP,” based on the performanceof the tested “FD” configuration.
“For some time now, Samsung has clearly had eco-responsibility at the forefront of its product design,” said BLI Associate Editor Carl Schell. Aside from standard automatic duplexing and toner-save mode, both of which can reduce waste and TCO, the Result Simulator in the driver provides the estimated reduction for carbon dioxide emissions and energy and paper consumption when “green” features are enabled. “This can be a powerfultool to help educate employees about how they can have a dramatic impact on the environment—and the company’s bottom line,” Schell noted. Meanwhile, with the Easy Eco Driver, users can remove text or images, or lighten text or change the font, to conserve toner, without affecting the original document. And pressing the Eco hard key on the controlpanel defaults the unit to the most environmentally responsible settings.
“With simple maintenance procedures, a well-designed PCL driver that allows users to save settings for frequently used jobs, and great scanning capabilities for this level of device—I was definitely impressed,” said BLI Test Technician Rich Holloway. Also, image quality in print and copy modes was excellent and very good overall, respectively, with dark and sharp text, consistent line art, the full range of halftones, and dark solids. “For personal printing, users will be more than happy with the way output looks,” said Holloway.
“People aren’t just looking to save money these days—they also want to save space,” Schell said. “The Xpress M2875 family definitely fits the bill with a compact footprint. But despite its small size, Samsung has managed to pack a lot of features into these budget-friendly devices.”
“Samsung’s monochrome laser printers and MFPs in the M2875 series reflect our commitment to create powerful, attractive products that meet consumer demands for performance, cost efficiency and ease of use,” said Joosang Eun, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Samsung Electronics. “We are honoured by the award from BLI and we consider them as recognition of our continued effort in discovering new possibilities in printer innovation.”
BLI highly recommends the Samsung Xpress M2875FD for environments with monthly volumes of up to 1,000 impressions. The “FW” version is identical to its sibling except it offers a standard wireless interface.
