Whilst having to replace two different consumables can seem like a slightly daunting task \u2013 modern laser printers are designed to effortlessly accommodate this job. Here we explain how to replace both the laser printer cartridge and the drum.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Printer Cartridge<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Turn on laser printer \u2013 most printers need to be powered on to allow access to the cartridge.<br \/>\n<strong>2.<\/strong>\tOpen the main printer door \u2013 the method for this may vary between different printers but most require you to hold the release button and pull the lid. When the main printer door is opened on the majority of printers, the carriage will automatically slide to the right side of the machine.<br \/>\n<strong>3.<\/strong>\tRemove the cartridge from the printer. You may have to unhook the cradle which holds the cartridge or press a release tab \u2013 depending on the model.<br \/>\n<strong>4.<\/strong>\tRemove the new cartridge from its box, but don\u2019t remove the plastic packaging.<br \/>\n<strong>5.<\/strong>\tGently shake the cartridge \u2013 this can help fully distribute the toner evenly throughout the cartridge.<br \/>\n<strong>6.<\/strong>\tPull the coloured tab on the cartridge, removing the protective tape from the bottom of the cartridge. Place the cartridge into the carriage \u2013 it should snap in securely.<br \/>\n<strong>7.<\/strong>\tClose the lid, and send through a test print.<\/p>\n<h3>Printer Drum<\/h3>\n<p>If your laser printer\u2019s performance is starting to suffer, with blurry prints and black spots, then it may be time to replace the printer drum.<br \/>\n<strong>1.<\/strong>\tTurn off the laser printer\u2019s power at the mains, wait approximately 15 minutes for the machine to cool down.<br \/>\n<strong>2.<\/strong>\tOpen the main printer door and lift out the cartridge.<br \/>\n<strong>3.<\/strong>\tLift out the drum by twisting or pressing the locking mechanism.<br \/>\n<strong>4.<\/strong>\tRemove the replacement drum from its packaging.
