Customer Questions & Answers

Can't find the answer you're looking for? Our printer experts are here to help! Ask a Question
  • Does this printer do borderless printing? If so, what sizes does it do? I need to print onto a maximum of 300gsm card. Will this printer cope with 300gsm thickness of card?

The Canon Pixma iX6850 is capable of borderless printing onto the following media sizes: A3+, A3, A4, LTR, LDR, 25x30cm, 20x25cm, 13x18cm and 10x15cm. This printer can handle up to 105gsm Plain Paper, and can handle up to 300gsm Canon Photo Paper. It is recommended to use Canon media when printing up to 300gsm as using normal card may not work correctly.

  • I have an iX6550 that now needs a new printer head, so looking at a replacement. Is there anything fundamentally different between the 8750 & 6850? Will the 6850 be better? Thanks Mark

The PIXMA IP8750 produces higher quality photographs and is aimed at photo enthusiasts. It features 6 inks as opposed to the usual 4 normally found in inkjet printers.

  • Does this printer copy A3 to A3. Can it Air Print straight from IPhone, IPad, Galaxy,

The iX6850 is a print only device so will not copy or scan at all. It is Airprint ready so will print directly from Apple devices

    On 27/04/2017 06:25:36
  • will this print icing for cakes?

Yes, it does have the capability however we do not sell the inks. We do not recommend using the model for this purpose as it can void your warranty.

    On 26/10/2016 13:03:17
  • Is this a top loading printer where the paper does not wrap around the roller before exiting the machine?

The paper is loaded from the bottom so will wrap around the roller before exiting the printer, for help finding a printer with a straight paper path please contact one of our printer experts on 0800 840 1992.

    A very good, excellent value

I needed an A3 printer that would also give me high quality colour printing. I chose this on as I had canon a A4 printer and the quality was reliably good. The printer was easy to install, though you have to be careful to ensure that your fire wall allows the cannon exe. file access to the complete install fully. The instructions do not tell you this, but a quick internet search found the answer to this slight frustration. It is wifi and this a real bonus, it prints efficiently and quality is high; as with all printers paper quality has an important part to play in the end result. I had to trade off automatic double sided printing as it does not have this facility, however I would not hesitate to recommend this printer to anyone printing out technical drawings.

    Thank you Printerland!

I am a graphic designer and needed a new A3 printer for proofing and test prints. I was tempted by some of the Epson printers however, this model was appealing due to the affordable price. I have tested a number of different inkjet papers and most have performed superbly. It will happily take heavyweight papers and cards (I've tried 300gsm and this was fine). Photo printing is detailed. Another benefit of this printer is it's WiFi printing capabilities - something that I didn't realise until I unpacked it from the box. I have been very impressed with Printerland's informative website, ease of ordering, quick delivery and excellent customer service. I will certainly be a returning customer.

    Replacement A3 printer.

My previous A3 printer, a Cannon PIXMA iX6550, died suddenly after only 3 years light use and could not be revived without spending more than the replacement cost. Bought another Cannon because it was difficult to beat on cost. The new one looks very similar to the old one with a similar cheap feeling plastic case. The worst set up instructions ever in my experience. Not even the most basic of start up booklets. Only a fold out sheet of paper with numbered sketches but no explanatory text. If I hadn't had experience with the previous Canon I would have been in trouble, but I managed to get it going. It does everything it claims to do, as did it's predecessor, lets hope it lasts longer. It was supplied with minimal ink, how petty, but is an improvement on its predecessor in that a larger size ink cartridge is available.

    Professional overview

Having not used a Canon printer before, and having recently purchased a Canon 5D MK 111 Pro camera, it was a no brainer to match up camera with same manufacturer printer. The result , first rate true colour, together with an ability to capture the very high standard of sharpness and clarity from camera to print. Stephen James Dean Professional Photographer.
