Beadle's About!

By Mark Sotherby

Printerland helps Kirsty Appeal reach £5M target

With the help of Auction Master Jeremy Beadle, printerland.co.uk received successful bids on a wide range of interesting items, which included sporting memorabilia such as signed football and rugby shirts and ten VIP tickets to watch a top-class premiership match.

Commenting on the success of the evening, Catherine Bannan, the Office Manager of Printerland said, ‘we have all worked hard for over a year to acquire lots of items and have received some very kind donations, I can honestly say that it has been a pleasure, and of course it was for a worthwhile cause. Printerland has supported Rainbow Family Trust for over fourteen years now and in the last eighteen months alone the company has raised over seven thousand pounds for the hospice’.

Although we have finished this project we are continuing to enjoy helping other local charities such as a bike ride from Lands-end to John O’Groats in aid of cancer research by Trafford MV Rugby Club to which Printerland has funded the support vehicle’.

Asked if Catherine would consider the bike ride, jokingly she replied ‘No chance…. they don’t make a bike seat big enough!!’

Printerland announce a 4-year, 6-figure deal to sponsor the Sale Sharks Rugby Team.
By Steve Kelly

A WACKY entrepreneur has signed a sponsorship deal with England's top rugby union club. Sports-mad Graham Vickers who co-owns computer printer company Printerland.co.uk and fellow director James Kight agreed the four-year, six-figure deal with Sale Sharks.
He said:” We have watched Sale mature into one of the top teams in the Premiership. “They play the most entertaining rugby in the league and so for us it is a pleasure to be associated with this club. But it is not the first time the injured Wilmslow Rugby Club centre has shown his devotion to sport.
The 43 year-old was forced to run around a Manchester monument naked after betting against England winning The Ashes in

September – a feat which was publicised on national radio. “I had promised to do it so I couldn't back out of it.” he said. “I thought about doing it at night, but a lot of people had heard about it so I had to do it properly.”
“It was a bit of fun at the time, though it wasn't for me.
“A lot of people found it hilarious.
“But I won't do it again. I don't think it would be the same after the first time.”
He also bet against the England football team winning a world cup match by offering to grind his cherished caving helmet into a powder and eat it over a few weeks. “Thankfully, I won that bet so I didn't have to go through with it.” he added.
Graham's next major sporting goal is to overcome a long term knee injury which has kept him out of action for Wilmslow for two years.
“I've had surgery on it and I'm hoping to get back into training in the new year. I'm hoping to get another 10 years out of it.”

Ryan Giggs Drops In!

By Harold Thomas

Staff at Manchester based printer retailer Printerland.co.uk had a surprise visitor on Tuesday when Manchester United Star Ryan Giggs came in to donate a signed shirt with the distinctive number 11 on the reverse.
“It was a very nice gesture from Ryan to offer the shirt for our raffle” said James Kight, Managing Director. “Word is starting to get around that we need special items to enable our charity raffle for the Kirsty appeal to help secure the future of Francis House. The Charity is 800k short of financial security and we want to play our part in achieving this. So far we have received donations such as a prestigious ladies Breitling watch, an overseas holiday and a selection of signed football and rugby memorabilia.”

Printerland.co.uk will be holding a raffle early in 2006 and should any readers wish to donate any item of interest, then please contact James Kight or Graham Vickers on 0845 130 1992.

Staff at Printerland.co uk are on a mission to collect sporting souvenirs to raffle for a special cause. Catherine Bannan their Marketing Manager said “ We have collected several interesting items so far including a signed Reading football shirt and a signed Portsmouth shirt, both of which are framed. We also have two signed rugby balls from a photo-shoot with Sale Sharks. I know that Graham and James our Directors are always on the lookout for items to add to the pot.” “As soon as we have enough items to attract interest we will hold a raffle with all donations going to Rainbow Family Trust. For something like this to work we have to have some sort of infrastructure in place, but then again we could always use eBay. I expect the raffle will be held early next year”.

Cricket fan suffers a losing streak

By Roland Hancock

THE Ashes turned to blushes for company boss Graham Vickers when he was forced to strip off after betting AGAINST an England victory.
The cheeky father of two, from Wilmslow, told employees at Printerland in Davyhulme he would streak across the huge roundabout, Davyhulme Circle, if they won.
But the confidence turned to cold sweats as Kevin Pietersen pushed Freddie Flintoff and the boys towards victory and the return of the Ashes.
Graham said: "I told everybody in the office I would strip a few weeks ago, when it looked like we were going to get closer than ever before. I did it because I wanted them to win, and this was my way of giving them an extra boost."
But matters became more serious as his business partner emailed a national radio station to tell them all about the little bet on Monday.
"By that point there was no backing out, but I was still rooting for England. I always wanted them to win, whatever it meant for me.
"The worst thing is my wife and children didn't know until Monday - it just isn't the kind of thing you would tell them. My wife may have had an idea though, as I kept getting cheeky texts from my mates in the last few weeks, and I took more interest than usual in the cricket scores."
Graham might have kept quiet about it, but there was no hiding from our cameras at 7.30am yesterday when the sports-mad 43-year-old, who used to play for local cricket team Lindow in Wilmslow, arrived at the roundabout to bare witness to his love of the game.
But he revealed that this wasn't the first bet he's made in the last few years. He once bet against an England football World Cup victory by offering to grind his cherished caving helmet into a powder and eat it over a few weeks. Talk about eating your hat .

Cheeky Graham
fulfils his bet.

Chabal, affectionately known as ‘Sea-Bass’ by the Sale Sharks fans, has since been called up for France for the autumn internationals.
