Lexmark C925DE Bench Test

Setup

First impressions of the Lexmark C925DE were surprisingly good. The machine itself looks solid and stylish, fitting in with the look of the everyday office. What also struck us about the C925DE was its relatively small size. For an A3 printer this Lexmark seems remarkably compact compared to comparative A3 models.

Straight out of the box the C925DE comes with a generous 7.5k colour toners. Toner installation proved to be easy with each of the toner cartridges slotting into the front-loading ports with minimum of fuss.

Setting up the C925DE was also a simple affair with use of the 4.3 inch colour touch screen. Navigating the clear and intuitive menus was stress-free, providing easy access to various shortcuts and solutions. Another handy feature of the menu is that it allows users to preview documents before printing.

As with all Lexmark printers, setting up the C925DE on our wireless network was quick and easy. Setup instructions were clear and simple to follow allowing us access to the network in no time.

The C925DE also allows for effortless wireless printing on the Apple iPad. This is achieved using Apple’s AirPrint technology. As with all AirPrint enabled Lexmark printers, setting up of this function was straight forward and completed in minutes.

Functionality

The Lexmark C925E allows users to print A4 and A3 colour documents and is capable of duplex printing.

The Print quality of the Lexmark C925DE is also worth remarking upon as both images and text looked superb. Printed text was razor sharp and photos appeared detailed and vibrant.  Lexmark’s trademark PANTONE® calibration technology means that colour tones will remain consistent over the course of the C925DE’s operating lifespan.

The C925DE also employs the Lexmark Smart Solutions feature. This software allows for easy customisation of one-touch apps which allows users to print their most popular document formats at the touch of a button. A front USB port also adds extra convenience via walk-up printing.

For an A3 colour laser the Lexmark C925DE is surprisingly efficient. The C925DE boasts a host of eco-friendly features including Eco-Mode which reduces paper and toner consumption and a Sleep button to help save energy and ultimately, money.

Running costs

Low cost printing has always been one of Lexmark’s key objectives and the C925DE certainly follows this trend. At 1.2p per page mono & 2.6p per page colour print speeds, the Lexmark C925DE definitely stands its ground against its competitors’ in this range.

Speed

Print speed is an area where Lexmark excels and the C925DE is no exception. First page print speed is a respectable 9 seconds and the Lexmark also claims print speeds of 31ppm in both colour and mono. When we put the C925DE to the test on its fastest settings, it lived up to its claims.
